Heteronormative, misogynist, and racist, but with some of the most beautiful heartbreaking prose and imagery. The protagonist is fairly unsympathetic, but his journey is very real. I have a lot of conflicting/negative feelings about a lot of things in this work but I really don't think I can give it anything less than a 4 [out of 5].
even if im pretty significantly bummed there was so much gross shit that ruined its perfection i'm still really glad i read it.
